The project is to rehabilitate the existing Colombo Sewerage System including some parts in the metro Colombo area. The IDC component of the project is to provide on-going assistance support and advise to senior management of CMC, NWSDB and other relevant authorities to ensure efficient service delivery. EML provided technical expertise in
Implementing capacity building programs; community participation and public education campaigns; and to identify and implement specific activities to create environment for increasing willingness to pay for improved services. In addition, assisted to establish efficient budgeting, accounting , and financial management systems. |

This Project Preparatory Technical Assistance (PPTA) was to facilitate sustainable development in disadvantaged districts in Sri Lanka, with the focus on improved basic water supply and sanitation infrastructure. capacity development assistance for institutionalizing mechanisms for sustainable community-based infrastructure development. EML was responsible for capacity building of program NGOs and CBOs in initiating and subsequent operation and maintenanace of community based water supply projects. The objective of the project was to strengthen rural finance sector institutions for the provision of efficient service delivery by Rural Finance Institutes (RFIs). Also, the project enhanced the outreach of sustainable and appropriate rural finance services and thereby contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction. EML provided technical expertise in capacity development for micro finance training institutions; strengthening the demand side through support for village –based micro enterprises. The project involved the Central Bank, 6 regional banks, Samurdhi Banking Sector, and regional cooperative banks. |

Developing a concept to measure KPIs; a baseline survey on the SME development; plan to monitor the success of the system against a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for tracking development of SMEs and a survey on economic participation and social impact. During the baseline survey, 300 graduates of the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) were trained on data collection methods. The Project will monitor the success of its activities which will be a part of monitoring system of GIZ. |
Tourism and Development

The project consisted of nine sub-projects related to the construction/rehabilitation of existing urban and social infrastructure which includes market centers, interpretation centers, camping facilities, jetty developments, landscaping and planting. Drafting of state specific policy and guidelines on sustainable tourism and set the legal basis for community based tourism; contributing to the guidelines on sustainable tourism and set the legal basis for community based tourism in terms of partnership set ups and environmental safeguards in design of development control for the management plans. |
