Dr. M S Weerasuriya has over 20 years of experience in project management, particularly related to institutional strengthening, HR development, and socio-economic studies. As its Managing Director, Dr. Weersuriya played a key role in the establishment and rapid expansion of International Institute for Training and Development (IIDT), a sister company of EML, which specializes in the design and conduct of training programs for both the state and the private sector on subjects related to business and livelihoods development. Graduated as a Civil Engineer in 1990, Channa Fernando is a highly qualified coastal engineer with over 20 years of experience in port/harbour planning, harbour management, and coast conservation. His post graduate education includes, M.Sc. H.E Delft, The Netherlands (1996), and Dip. H.E. (Delft) in Hydraulic Engineering (1995-1995), which includes extensive studies and research on coastal environment. In addition, he has completed several national and international training programmes on port/harbour engineering and management, and environmental aspects related to port/harbour development. His international experience includes, coastal development related projects in The Maldives, India, Brunei, Bangladesh and Mauritius.

During her 15 year long tenure with the Central Environmental Agency (CEA) the apex state body responsible for formulation and implementation of environmental regulations, Ms Yasaratne has made a significant contribution towards conservation of natural resources and sustainable development in Sri Lanka. As Director, Natural Resources Management, one of her major tasks had been the Design and Management of the EIA Process for Sri Lanka. In process, Ms Yasaratne was extensively involved in the formulation of the EIA Regulations in accordance with the National Environmental Act of Sri Lanka, and in the design and development of the implementation framework of the EIA process from its inception in June 1993.
