The 14 bridges were located in the districts of Killinochchi, Nuwaraeliya, Galle, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Badulla, Gampaha, and Colombo. The assessment concentrated on the analysis of baseline environmental conditions, and physical, environmental, ecological and socioeconomic aspects. Specific ecological survey was focused on the determination of fragile habitats and/or presence of any endemic or threatened plant and animal species in the river flows affected by the construction of bridges.
